First Look: Johnny Depps Role In New Vampire Flick “Dark Shadows” (PICS)

Move over Edward Cullen! Johnny Depp is back on the scene as a vampire in his new movie “Dark Shadows”.  Today, exclusive stills from the upcoming flick was released today by Warner Brothers. Depp, 48, has collaborated for the 8th time with long time friend and director Tim Burton. The The Gothic-horror tale is the latest creation for the 2 since Alice in Wonderland.  In the movie he plays vampire Barnabas Collins, an 18th century vampire who awakens to the 20th century.  We all know Johnny is a great character actor and lives for playing roles like this. Those two love getting together and doing weird movies don’t they? lol Well, its a formula they have created that’s obviously working for them. Filming began in May 2011. It was filmed entirely in England, at both Pinewood Studios and on location. Michelle Pfeiffer is also in the movie. She plays the character Elizabeth, the family matriarch. Nice to see her back on the screen, where has she been??

The film centers around him and his encounters with monsters, witches and werewolves. Dark Shadows is based on the gothic soap opera of the same name that ran from 1966-1971.

Synopsis:

In 1752, the Collins family sails from Liverpool, England to North America. The son, Barnabas, grows up to be a wealthy playboy in Collinsport, Maine and is the master of Collinwood Manor. He breaks the heart of a witch, Angelique Bouchard, who turns him into a vampire and buries him alive. In 1972, Barnabas is freed and returns to find his manor in ruin. It is occupied by dysfunctional descendants and other residents, all of whom have secrets.

Looks really interesting, Johnny Depp never disappoints. He has been a fav of mine since 21 Jumpstreet. He evolved into this great character actor and I have been hooked.  Really great body of work he’s done, he’s one of the best.
