We all know by now about the drama that escalated at Hot 97′s Summer Jam that canceled Nicki Minaj’s set. One of the DJ’s at Hot 97 stated his OPINION about her song “Starships”. Once that happened, Lil’ Wayne felt it was in the best interest of the YMCB camp to pull his artists from the show.
I personally feel that’s no excuse to let your fans down. We are living in a RECESSION where the music industry and the FANS are suffering. Artist are hardly selling records, and we continue to put money in their pockets by attending these shows. Dedicated fans spend their hard earned money to see these artists, and they cancel over an opinion. Last I checked that comes with the territory. I thought that was what hip hop is all about, being able to have an opinion and artists go at it for the title. Maybe I’m too old school, but I have always thought that was apart of hip hop. It seems to me that the decision that was made, was based on a lot of Egos and hurt feelings. I think I heard them address the fans once, MAYBE twice and it was very BRIEF. At the end of the day, unfortunately it’s not about the fans, its about so call “respect”, ego and money. She should have came out on that stage, rocked that shxt and showed them what she’s made of. Showed everybody why you here and claimed the top spot. (hip hop) They stuck on this disrespect shxt, I didn’t hear her being called out her name or just being dogged. He stated his opinion. I agree the timing was awful, but hey it is what it is. I’m sorry, but if I was an artist- LAURYN HILL and NAS-on the same stage with each other-then with me?? Please. Nothing would have kept me from it.
I am really disappointed as a hip hop fan to witness such unprofessionalism on all parts of this Summer Jam fiasco. The stage had 5000 people on it, and it looked mad unorganized…on top of that the headliners ditching the show last damn minute. If I spent my money to see that show, I would demand a refund.
Listen and judge for yourself..
I was exhausted after listening to this. Flex screaming not letting her talk and her and that “you need to simmer” smh. It was really not the time to discuss album sales and yada yada..
They all need to address the fans. The ones who make their careers possible, the ones who stood out there all them hours, rocking with them because they love the music. Everyone should take responsibility for what they contributed to this mess, and make it right for the fans. Point.Blank.Period. Leave your opinion below in the comments.. let me know how you feel. Love.

Absolutely agree.
..I think it would have been better for Nicki to take the stage and say f that DJ “b**ches ain’t sh*t and they ain’t sayin nothin..” could have been the opening song the crowd would have ate it up.she missed a perfect opportunity to shut critics down and she ran from it, not everyone is going to like you but the show must go on..
