I guess American Idol could afford Mariah Carey. Mariah is the latest successful pop diva to join American Idol. The 42-year-old will join the judges table for season 12. First it started off with Paula Abdul, then Jennifer Lopez now the Queen of all Divas. Wow!
It had been whispered that Mariah was the leading contender and probably has signed a deal for more that JLo had, at least up to $17million. Her Hubby Nick Cannon Said that Idol couldn’t afford her but I guess they could. This will definitely be a way to jump start her career back off in the right direction. Not that she needs it because she doesn’t but this will give her incredible exposure.
“It’s the biggest recording artist than any of these [singing competition] shows have ever had,” Fox entertainment president Kevin Reilly told critics at their press tour in Beverly Hills on Monday. “It’s an artist many of these contestants have tried to emulate. [The deal] only concluded only hours ago. Not being the only game in town we need to keep things fresh.”
American Idol ratings are definitely going to shoot through the roof now that MC is a judge. Ha!
Now that JLo is 99% percent out and Steven is gone for sure is Randy going to go ahead and stay on as a judge? We shall see. Mariah had this to say about her new career:
“I am so excited to be joining ‘American Idol…This kind of all just happened really quickly.”
She also expressed her excitement on twitter:
