Last night (May 11) was a glorious night for the 20th Anniversary of the 4 times Super Bowl Champions The Dallas Cowboys. It was a star studded event from athletes to Hollywood’s A-Lister’s. This night was full of glitz and glamour. DivaWhispers was there to witness it all.
Emmitt Smith hosted this event to benefit his children’s charity, The Pat & Emmitt Smith Charities. This event brought back the entire roster from 1992 Dallas Cowboys. The dinner had players from Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin, Kenny Gant, Darren Woodson, Deion Sanders, Daryl Johnston,Nate Newton, Clayton Holmes, Larry Brown, Kevin ‘Pup’ Smith, Charles Haley, Tony Castillas, Leon Lett and everyone else in between. It was a splendid night indeed.
Emmitt’s wife, Pat Smith, hosted the event and introduced the chairpersons Dee Lincoln and her husband John DiNardo who brought laughter to the audience. Pat also brought out a few special children that are in the foundation. It was so special and you could see the happiness in all of their eyes.
It was all about camaraderie and seeing all of the teammates together brought back fond memories for everyone. Owner Jerry Jones showed his support and love for his champions. He took on the panel as they all reminisced and did a Q&A. Athletes such as Barry Sanders, Two Tall Jones, Michael Finley, Spud Webb and actor Dennis Haysbert were all in attendance as well.
The team joked and scored on each other all night. The entire team was hilarious. When asked what the key to the dynasty was former Pro Bowl fullback Daryl “Moose” Johnston replied
“We had really, really good players, and in ’92 a lot of those guys were year four to six, kind of right in your prime, but to me, what made the team unique was the chemistry and camaraderie. A lot of people talk about the football team being your second family and you create a lot of analogies like that, but it’s really hard to actually create that feeling, that chemistry in the locker room. Jimmy and his staff did a really good job with that. … I just think that when we got into tough times, we knew each other so well, we had each other’s backs. We had a tremendous amount of respect for each other. It’s hard to create that. I think that if you were to go back and talk to players from the 49ers from the ‘80s, Steelers from the ‘70s, Packers from the ‘60s, you’ll find a lot of the same things that we talk about with our ’92 team.”
