P. Diddy gave an emotional tribute to late rap legend Heavy D yesterday, before attending a memorial service in New York City yesterday.
Several celebrities including Flavor Flav and Chris Rock, The Wayans Brothers turned up at the Grace Baptist Church in Mount Vernon yesterday, and P. Diddy decided to give an extra tribute on Twitter, crediting Heavy with his career and spoke of his kindness.
“Heavy D is the person who gave me my first chance in the music industry,” he wrote. ” He got me my internship at Uptown. He Believed when no one else did. My Heart is Broken. Pls pray for my man Heavy D and his Family.”
Diddy attended the memorial service with his right arm in a sling following shoulder surgery, while comedian Chris Rock rushed inside the building.
Heavy collapsed at his home in Beverly Hills and died hours later in hospital. His death was ruled inconclusive and his family must wait for toxicology test results. -taletela
A private funeral will be held today. Guests at Heavy D’s invite-only funeral services will include Mary J. Blige, Diddy (who both worked with Heavy at Uptown Records) and DJ Eddie F and G-Wiz, his group members in the popular ’90s outfit Heavy D & the Boyz. RIP you will be greatly missed.
