“GOING FOR THE GOLD” SPAGHETTI
By Josie Harris and Julie Brown of Sistas and Spatulas
Preparation is easier than preparing to swim a 500, plus you don’t have to spend a fortune to feed your family a nutritious meal that will fuel all your “future Olympians” while they are training.
WHAT YOU NEED: • 1 Box of thin spaghetti noodles • 2 jars of pasta sauce (Italian sausage flavor with green peppers & onions) • 1 jar of plain red sauce • 1 package of small pepperonis • 1 package of mini meatballs • 1 lb of ground hamburger meat • 1 package of 5 cheese Italian shredded cheese. • Parmesan cheese,Foil, 9x 13 pan
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO DO:
Preheat your oven to 350. Boil a pot of water and add your pasta. Cook until done. While pasta is cooking, brown your hamburger meat and warm your meatballs and jar of red sauce in a pot until warmed all the way through. Once the pasta is done cooking, drain your noodles. Put a little bit of sauce on the bottom of your 9×13 pan, followed by a layer of your noodles. After the noodles, layer your hamburger meat, pepperonis, meatballs with red sauce and some of the Italian sausage sauce followed by a layer of the shredded cheese and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. Repeat this 1 more time but do not add the last layer of shredded cheese.
Only sprinkle the top with some Parmesan cheese. Cover your pan with foil and warm in oven for at least 30 mins. After 30 mins, pull pan out, take off foil and add your shredded cheese. Place back in over without foil on top and warm until cheese melts and turns slightly brown. Serve in squares or as desired and add a sprinkle of sea salt and pepper to your liking. Enjoy with a nice bottle of red wine if you are over 21! Sit down with your family or use this meal to make for parties, pre-team meals like we have used for before swim team meets.
