Diva Whispers is sad to report one of NBA’s power couples are calling it quits. According to Yahoo and The Denver Post, Vanessa filed for divorce from the L.A. Laker star citing irreconcible differences. The couple has been been married for over 10 years and have 2 daughters, Natalia 8, Gianna, 5. A rep for the family says ” We ask in the interest of our young children and light of the holiday season the public respect our privacy at this difficult time.” Kobe and Vanessa met when she was 18 on a video shoot in 1999. A then 21 year old Kobe proposed to Vanessa and they were married 6 months later on April 18, 2001.
The couple has faced rough times during their marriage very publicly. Kobe was charged with sexual assault in 2003. Vanessa did stand by her man and endured the public scutiny, realeasing a statement at the time ” I know my husband has made a mistake, the mistake of adultery- He and we have to deal with that within our marriage, and we will do so- he is not a criminal.”
The case was later dismissed.
Last year Kobe and Vanessa Bryant settled litigation with a former maid, Maria Jeminez, who accused the NBA star’s wife of harassment.
