The whisper around Twitter is that Mary J. Blige has lost the starring role in a biopic about Nina Simone. According to the blog Shadow and Act, the gossip is rooted in truth.
The site reports that two sources, including a crew member who’s working on the project, confirm that Mary has been replaced by actress Zoe Saldana in the starring role. Mary had been excited about the role, telling BlackTree TV last year that she was still doing the long-delayed biopic, though filming had been pushed back because of scheduling conflicts.
I never saw that one coming especially being replace by actress Zoe Saldana. That’s a hard pill to swallow. Zoe looks nothing like Nina. I’m so tired of Hollyweird taking what’s natural for Blacks and giving it to what they think is Black. No shade to Zoe because Congrats to her but c’mon. It’s okay Mary. Better things are coming your way.
